Driving a Fiesta ST, Paula Swinscoe and Phil Scholes took part in the Mull Rally on 14th-16th October.
The pair had an eventful time during the race, working their way up to 12th position by the end of Stage 5. They then dropped back to 16th by the end of Leg 1 but at Stage 12 disaster struck when the front drive shaft snapped. They were forced to drop down to 20th place following replacement of the drive shaft in service but once again catastrophe struck at Mishnish Locks, Stage 14 when they lost the brakes! They took a maximum for the stage dropping back to 30th but managed to pull back to 27th by the end of Leg 2. Unbelievably another shaft snapped at the 1st Stage of leg 3. They went OTL to get the car fixed and the pair were forced to retire to the bar! |
